About This Course
Time to Get Published is facilitated by Anna Fox and editor Robert Doran.Â
Publishing a book takes more than one person: it takes a team. It also grows you as a professional and allows you to call yourself a published author. However many writers never get to experience it because it requires them to either self publish (which can be expensive) or get a publisher (which can take a long time).Â
Storytellers is offering an alternative option.
The second book in the series Storytellers: New Writing from Ireland will be a short story collection published in the Autumn and launched on 27th November 2020 as a quality paperback and online. It will feature upto 20 previously unpublished stories by writers who have worked through the drafting and editing processes with an editor, to produce the highest quality piece of work they are capable of.
And if you would like to be one of these writers, you can.
If you have been writing for a while and need a super-goal for your work, or if you have recieved one too many rejection letters from publishers, this project could be the incentive you need to work with intent and get your writing to publishing standards: you need to be prepared to actively engage in the writing and editing processes from March to August 2020 and if you are taking part in the Confidence and Craft courses, you will be able to develop your story with weekly feedback and advice from your facilitator.
This project is not for you if you think it is going to make you a famous writer overnight. It is for writers who are serious about raising their game and calling themselves a published writer. If you are interested in taking part but the editor feels your writing is not yet ready, we will advise you accordingly.
During the session, Anna and Robert will walk you through the publishing process from writing your first draft to seeing your book at the book launch and holding it in your hand. They will talk about the drafting, ediitng and copy editing processes and answer any questions you may have.
The book will be published in quality paperback and online on Amazon. It will be available in the Gutter Bookshop Dalkey and in Alan Hanna's Bookshop Ranelagh. It will also be available in 7 South Dublin libraries and the Lexicon as part of the Irish Collection. To see the hgih quality production standards of the first Storytellers Collection, go to the homepage and click/tap on 'Books' to view and/or purchase.Â
There will be a contribution fee to cover costs, after which the project will operate on a profit-share basis, and you will retain the copyright to your work. Further information about this will be available at the session.Â
